Maslow's Hierachy of Needs focuses on achieving one need before you can go on to achieve the next need. You start off with the basic needs then then climb up to self-actualization.

But life doesn’t follow a straight line; it’s much messier than that (Pamela R Routledge). The focus of the theory is that social connections are at the center of all our needs. We can achieve safety needs before the basic biological or psychological needs and all these are possible with social connections and collaborations.
